Developed for demanding environments, it offers enhanced robustness and longevity.
An innovative design provides more stability, comfort, and safety during operations.
In recent years, the market for loaders in mines and quarries has evolved with more powerful machines that require significant adaptation of equipment such as tires.
Designed for complex applications, the tire meets various needs: face work, block handling, forestry transport, and operations subjecting the tire to extreme stresses and high working speeds.
To respond to these developments, Michelin is launching a new size for high-capacity loaders: the MICHELIN XTRA POWER L5** 26.5 R25. This tire combines robustness and productivity in extreme and demanding conditions like those found in mines and quarries, while optimizing operator comfort.
Following the initial version of the MICHELIN XTRA POWER L5*** 35/65 R33 in 2021, this new size complements Michelin's tire offerings for loaders.
The MICHELIN XTRA POWER L5** 26.5 R25 features optimized load capacity and improved torque transmission for increased productivity.
To meet the demands of new, larger vehicles with high-capacity buckets, the new MICHELIN XTRA POWER L5** 26.5 R25 allows for a load capacity increase of up to 18.5 tons, which is 23% more compared to the previous generation1.
For this new size, Michelin engineers have developed an innovative new structure, featured curves and spaced of rubber blocks that reduce stress on the contact surface and maximize protection. The tread and shoulders of the tire have been reinforced to improve torque transmission and thus increase productivity.
Developed for demanding environments, it offers enhanced robustness and longevity.
Thanks to its new tread design and unique rubber compound, the MICHELIN XTRA POWER L5** 26.5 R25 possesses improved robustness2. It withstands abrasive soils, facilitates movement on varied terrains such as stones, debris, and sand, thereby enhancing machine productivity. These innovations also contribute to reducing the risk of rim slip and preventing premature wear.
Designed to be retreadable, the MICHELIN XTRA POWER L5** 26.5 R25 allows fleet managers to optimize its use, as well as operational costs in the long term.
An innovative design provides greater stability, comfort, and safety during operations.
The comfort and safety of users is a priority for Michelin in the design of its products. This new size can be used up to 7.5 bars, improving the stability of machines by 20%3 and further enhancing operator comfort, even during intensive loading cycles.
Moreover, the focus on a higher quality design has led to strengthening the product through the addition of metal in the crown and protective layers. This results in a more robust tire that is highly resistant to damage.
Through the MICHELIN XTRA POWER L5** 26.5 R25, Michelin offers its customers a solution that combines reliability, performance, and safety, to support the evolution of machines and needs on the ground.

2 Based on an internal comparison between MICHELIN XLDD2 and Competitor 1, same size 26.5 R25, measurements certified by the Michelin R&D Center in Ladoux in 2025. XTRA POWER offers a 7% higher wear potential compared to XLDD2. Taking XLDD2 as the baseline at 100, Competitor 1 scores 91 and XTRA POWER scores 107. This means XTRA POWER = 107/91 = 15% more wear potential.
