Meetings dedicated to individual shareholders

The Annual Shareholders Meeting is a key opportunity for Michelin and its shareholders to share viewpoints, listen to each other and engage in discussion. The 2023 Annual Shareholders Meeting was held on Friday, May 12 at the Zénith d’Auvergne event center near Clermont-Ferrand, France.

Michelin meets students from the IAE Clermont Auvergne School of Management

Elisabete Antunes, Individual Shareholders Relations Manager, and Muriel Floc'hlay, Michelin Individual Shareholders Communication Officer, were pleased to present a conference on the reasons for and methods of investing in Michelin. For almost an hour and a half, the students were able to discover the Group's strategy, its Governance, its financial organization and its service dedicated to individual shareholders.

Kateřina STRÁŽNICKÁ - Speaker in Finance at the IAE, confirmed the very positive reception from the students and looks forward to developing a collaboration with Michelin's Shareholder Service.

  • Questions on shareholder relations

    No, we do not offer bonus shares, because we consider that the regular distribution of a dividend per share already rewards our shareholders’ loyalty.

    As a shareholder, you are registered with the Company. As such, you automatically receive the invitation to the Annual Shareholders Meeting. If you do not receive it, please check your mailing or email address on your Sharinbox account (Société Générale) or with your financial intermediary.

  • Question about the stock split:

    In 2022, the Annual Shareholders Meeting voted to approve a four-for-one split in the par value of Michelin shares to make the share price more attractive and thereby diversify the shareholder base. The transaction took effect on June 16, 2022. As a result, the number of outstanding shares increased and the share price automatically decreased. The value of your portfolio is therefore unchanged, except that the number of shares you held has been multiplied by four. 

  • Question about how shares are registered:

    If you hold your shares through Société Générale, Michelin’s custodian, then they are directly registered shares. Indirectly registered shares are registered through your financial institution. To find out the difference between these two types of share ownership, visit the “How can I become a Michelin shareholder?” page.

  • Questions about the dividend:

    The dividend paid following the 2022 Annual Shareholders Meeting was €4.50/share. See movements in dividends on this page.

    No, Michelin does not offer a supplementary dividend to its shareholders.

    We do not grant discounts to our shareholders, as this could be perceived as a disguised dividend and give rise to a tax risk. 

  • Questions about gifting shares:

    Yes. By gifting shares, the shareholder (donor) transfers to a beneficiary the rights he or she holds in the company’s share capital. Gifting your Michelin shares is a way for you to enhance the value of your loved ones’ savings and benefit from tax advantages.

    There are four ways to gift your shares to a beneficiary in France: donation-partage, donation simple, don manuel and présent d’usage.  
    If you own directly registered shares, download Société Générale’s Practical Guide to Donations and Bequests to find out more about the conditions and tax advantages associated with each type of gift. If you own indirectly registered shares, contact your financial institution.  

  • Question about inheritance:

    If one of your loved ones held Michelin shares in directly registered form at the time of their death, you should promptly send a copy of the death certificate and details of the legal professional in charge of the estate to the following address:

    Société Générale will then contact the legal professional to send them the position of the account(s) on the day of death. Once all the deceased’s assets have been gathered, the legal professional will administer the estate and give instructions to Société Générale Securities Services. 
    For the inheritance of indirectly registered shares, you should contact the deceased’s financial institution.
