Michelin acquires Truckfly, the application designed to facilitate truck drivers’ daily life

Michelin announces the acquisition of Truckfly*, an application which offers the most complete collection of POIs (points of interest) to road drivers: roadside restaurants, car parks, service stations... With the participation of the community of drivers who downloaded it, the stops and breaks are detailed and commented in order to transmit to everyone reliable information. The application is updated in real time by a large community: already 120 000 drivers in Europe, including 45% in France.

Michelin today confirms its willingness to accompany truck drivers by improving:

  • Their mobility: optimised itineraries, precise information on rest and refueling places for trucks and drivers.
  • Their safety: helping them to find the right places to rest so they can rest peacefully and get back on the road, and reduce the number of trucks parked in prohibited or dangerous areas.

Xavier Gosselin, Incubator Project Manager at Michelin, said: "When the startup Truckfly offered us to take control of their operations, we did not hesitate. It made sense because they already had one of the largest POI databases in Europe. Michelin is proud of this acquisition, which meets its ambition to make life easier for truck drivers".

A free and friendly application

Truckfly is an application particularly recognised by the community of European truck drivers. It has in addition to very detailed POIs, a large network of partners which gives access to privileged offers. Very easy to use, the application will keep its name and will remain free. It will be improved over time with the ambition of continuing to grow the user community, hoping to reach 300,000 users in Europe within 2 years.

*Michelin only acquires the software part and the Truckfly name. The company Truckfly will continue its activities under another name.
