MICHELIN Track Connect receives Creative Award 2018
MICHELIN Track Connect, the first fully networked solution for car tires, has been awarded the 2018 Creative Prize at Tire Cologne, the tire and wheel trade fair. The award presented by the Bundesverbands Reifenhandel und Vulkaniseur-Handwerk e. V. (BRV) recognizes the high degree of innovation of the new smartphone application. In conjunction with the high-performance MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire, it enables optimum performance on the race track and provides the driver with real-time data on the tires.
The first fully networked application for sports car use
With MICHELIN Track Connect, a digital application is available for the first time for a passenger car tire, designed specifically for sporty and ambitious drivers. Tailor-made for fast laps on track days and on closed circuits, the MICHELIN Track Connect application collects temperature and air pressure data via sensors integrated in the tire. These are continuously calibrated with track and weather values entered in advance, and if required, advise the driver to adjust the air pressure to improve performance.
Powerful processor and networked tires from one source
Data processing takes place in a powerful processor, which transmits information in real-time to the driver's smartphone and displays it clearly via a Michelin app. The driver receives relevant information about his or her laps, the racetracks, vehicles equipped with MICHELIN Track Connect and personal driver profile.
For many years, the BRV has awarded the Creative Award for products and services that speak for themselves through their innovative power or new approaches. For the very first time, in 2018 the BRV will award six prizes. The award recognizes players in the tire industry and the tire trade in the categories "Innovation of the Year", "Best Green Idea" and "Best Future Idea".
