DJSI - Sustainable transport: our commitment recognized
We have just received the Gold Class Sustainability award 2016, the highest honor awarded by the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI).
This distinction rewards Michelin on a global level for its contribution to reduce greenhouse gases emission and appoints us as the company that has achieved the largest improvement last year (“Industry mover”) among all the other auto components suppliers (Auto Components category). Indeed, our manufacturers have endeavored to reduce not only greenhouse gases emission in Michelin’s factories, but also the gases produced when using our tires. In this field, our ambition is quite daring: reducing the carbon footprint of our products by 20% between 2010 and 2030! The DJSI has recognized this commitment and especially its results. Let’s not forget that transport is single-handedly responsible for 15% of worldwide greenhouse gases emission, and that the COP21 in Paris concluded with limitation objectives demanding efforts from everyone, industries as well as individuals. We are truly honored to receive this award, which shows Michelin’s pole position on the way to a more sustainable mobility that will be, for all of us, a better way forward.
