Designing the car of tomorrow

Concept cars and prototypes, as the embodiment of vehicle manufacturers' style and R&D work, are a natural focus of attention for journalists and the public. And as part of its partnerships with vehicle manufacturers, Michelin designs and manufactures the tires used for these futuristic vehicles.

Aerodynamics and energy efficiency

Michelin has, for instance, equipped the Renault EOLAB prototype with 17 inch MICHELIN Tall & Narrow tires. In the quest for enhanced aerodynamics and superior energy efficiency, its engineers designed a totally new tire size (145/70 R 17).

The Renault EOLAB prototype was test-driven by journalists on the Mortefontaine track near Paris, where it demonstrated its performances.

Premium tires in the spotlight

These tires use an innovative, high-performance sidewall technology known as MICHELIN Premium Touch, which not only improves the markings' graphic and visual appeal but also makes the markings easier to see.

At the 2014 Paris Motor Show, Tall & Narrow tires in other sizes were also used on the Peugeot Exalt concept car, the Peugeot 208 Hybrid Air prototype and the Citroën C4 CACTUS Airflow 2L prototype.
