Motorsport and supercars: Michelin’s winning pair at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show Motorsport and supercars... The high-performance cocktail MICHELIN revealed this year at the 88th Geneva Motor Show. March 7 2018 Imprimer Welcome to the new Formula E Racing first, with the official presentation on 6th March 2018 at the Geneva International Motor Show of the new 100% electric open-wheeler for Formula-E on brand new MICHELIN Pilot Sport tires. The new, redesigned high-performance and high-endurance tires (with new asymmetric tread) which will fit out all FIA ABB Championship teams in Formula-E from December 2018. The diameter of the tires remains the same (18 inches) which brings them closer to standard tires, ideal for technology transfer. The printed sidewalls show that they really are competition tires, integrating many technological innovations. The same diameter, but much lighter compared to the first generation tires with 2kg less in front and 2.5kg less in back for each tire. Or a total of 9kg less per open-wheeler...nearly 20% of the total weight of the tires! A new completely electric open-wheel car called the Gen2 will debut in competition in the 2018/2019 season. It will then be used for the following three editions. Did someone mention Gen2? The first car created by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), the organization presiding over the future of motorsport. If we compare it to the current open-wheeler, the new generation has pushed the boundaries by doubling its energy storage capacity (therefore doubling its power reserve). To accompany this (r)evolution, MICHELIN has also worked on the structure and roll resistance of the new MICHELIN Pilot Sport to offer greater efficiency, so the open-wheelers can increase their autonomy and guarantee the best level of performance and safety for the drivers. Competitors, pilots and teams will be able to cover the total race distance at a faster pace without having to change the tire and vehicles half-way, which is currently the case. Gen2 and the new MICHELIN Pilot Sport tires today symbolize the increase in performance and the major technological developments in batteries, electric engines and tires achieved since the launch of the first 100% electric competition, four years ago... Developments achieved and tested in competition that you will quickly discover on standard models and tires. Sin Cars booth. Top speed: 300kph and from 0 to 100kph in only 3.5 seconds...
