Histoire d’une reconquête permanente

Michelin Motorsport and MotoGP™, a long association…

It was at the 1973 British 500cc Grand Prix – the famous Isle of Man Tourist Trophy – that Australia’s Jack Findlay (Suzuki) claimed Michelin’s maiden victory in motorcycle racing’s premier class. Three years later, Barry Sheene (Suzuki) notched up the first of Michelin’s 28 world crowns to date. Since then, the list of titles and race wins Michelin has collected has kept growing. In 2017, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) topped the Riders’ standings for the second year in a row to secure his sixth world title – and his fourth at MotoGPTM level – at the age of 24. Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) and Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP™) were the year’s other medal finishers. With 28 world titles and more than 400 grand prix successes to its name, Michelin continues to be MotoGP™’s official tyre supplier, a status it will enjoy for the next five seasons.
