This year’s Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show highlighted 5G technology and Artificial Intelligence. 5G isn’t just about faster speeds.
It also opens up brand new possibilities that go far beyond smartphones. The arrival of 5G should accelerate the deployment of huge numbers of innovations across different industries, so it is only natural that this new technology has piqued the interest of major mobility players including Michelin, which sees 5G as a new opportunity for innovation.
As Michelin Group CEO Florent Menegaux explains: “I believe this technology will really encourage the expansion of the internet of things across all sectors. We have to be ready for its deployment.” Connected objects were the second major trend on display at the CES 2020. Collecting high-quality data and knowing how to analyze and use it intelligently have become key challenges for companies that want to succeed in Artificial Intelligence or in creating new business models. The Michelin group is taking on that challenge with continued investments in data services and solutions. One illustration of that dynamic is its recent acquisition of Masternaut, a leading European telematics company. Thanks to its 130 years of experience in the tire business, Michelin has a large volume of data on tires and tire use - a major asset in its quest to become a leader on the promising connected mobility market. Stay tuned...
