The goal is to promote our materials technologies beyond their direct use at Michelin, whether they are still in the research phase or already in use in our plants.


How? By highlighting our teams' expertise in designing, transforming, characterizing and evaluating product and industrial performance. That helps define new product and service offers that go beyond tires, as well as the necessary market approaches and resources or partnerships and the corresponding profitable business models.


High-tech materials involve numerous activities within the Group (R&D, Industry, Purchasing, Standards and Regulations, Incubators, other business lines, etc.) and outside it (startups, partner industries, etc.)  That's why all areas of expertise are needed to make these projects a success and to identify, analyze, incubate and mature new opportunities to create value for the Group.


The Group has identified six areas in which to promote its high-tech materials:

  • 3D printing
  • Clean and biosourced materials
  • Recycling
  • Chemical and specialty products
  • Rubber products
  • Hydrogen
