A global Technology Center
The Michelin Technology Center, in charge of Research and Development, benefits from a worldwide network. Its teams and infrastructures are based in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Urbalad, developing synergies
3,300 people work at Michelin's Research and Development Center in Clermont-Ferrand. Over the period up to 2019, the Group will spend €270 million on fully renovating the center to boost its innovation capabilities and shorten time-to-market for innovative tires and services.
We're going to bring together all of our research, development and process engineering capabilities on the same site. This will facilitate collaborative working and encourage cross-fertilization.
Coopérations transversesCross-disciplinary cooperation
This major project involves constructing a new building, which in itself will accommodate 1,600 workstations, at the center of the Ladoux site near Clermont-Ferrand in France. The new work spaces will facilitate cross-disciplinary cooperation and help project teams work together more efficiently.
MICHELIN Motorsport, Michelin's other proving ground
Along with the Technology Center, motorsports is Michelin's other proving ground. It provides a means of understanding, testing, innovating and developing new tire solutions in extreme driving conditions. Through this strong involvement in motorsports, Michelin is able to rapidly optimize its working methods and transfer technology building blocks that have been tried and tested in motorsport to mass-produced tires, all for the direct benefit of consumers.
