Aircraft tires are not subject to your average operating conditions and require the development of specific technologies. With a constantly evolving range, Michelin meets the unique needs of its customers.
Extreme conditions The aircraft tire is designed to support the weight of civil engineering machinery while moving at the speed of a Formula 1 vehicle! At take-off, it must tolerate speeds of around 360 km/h over a short period, while supporting loads which may exceed 30 tons per tire. At the end of the landing phase, its temperature can exceed 100°C, whereas in flight in the hold it is -45°C.
Thanks to Michelin’s contribution to technological evolutions, the tires are more wear resistant. The lighter casing takes up less space. Results: lower maintenance costs, fuel-saving and greater load capacities. The world’s major airlines put their trust in Michelin’s experience and products, which equip notably the entire Airbus range.
