The world automotive constructors will gather at the Frankfurt Show (Germany) from September 13 to 23. This year’s theme, Fuel Savings, is one that resonates strongly with automotive constructors. The Group presents Michelin Energy Saver there, the latest green tires. With this new tire, Michelin has passed a new milestone in optimizing the rolling resistance. How can the low rolling resistance, and therefore its impact on reducing energy consumption, of the new Michelin Energy Saver be demonstrated? By doing a life size test. It has never been seen before!
Two Peugeot 308 are launched on a 22 meter long curved track. One of the cars is equipped with average tires and the other in Michelin Energy Savers. At the moment when they are « launched » (from a 3.2 m height and 20° slope), the two 308 oscillate as a result of their own weight. The car mounted with Energy Saver tires, with lesser rolling resistance, goes on longer than the other vehicle. Q.E.D!
